Woman holding clear aligner in front of mouth at Karl Hoffman Dentistry in Lacey, WAIf you're self-conscious about your gapped teeth (diastema), you're not alone. Unfortunately, many people have this dental issue and don't know where to turn for help. Invisalign is an excellent cosmetic solution for diastema, and our team at Karl Hoffman Dentistry can help you get started on the path to a straighter smile. With Invisalign, you can achieve a beautiful, confident smile without suffering through metal braces. Read on to find out more.

What is a diastema, and why does it occur?

A diastema is a gap between two teeth. This space can be caused by lost baby teeth, poor oral hygiene habits, or genetics, and the condition usually affects the front six upper and lower adult teeth on each side of your mouth.

Many people who suffer from this dental issue don't know where to turn for help because they're embarrassed about how it makes them look when they smile. Others have had bad experiences with metal braces that left their mouths feeling sore and uncomfortable throughout the day, so they've given up hope entirely on getting straighter teeth. But there's no need to feel defeated - Invisalign provides an effective treatment option without all those adverse side effects you get with traditional orthodontic treatment!

How can you correct a diastema with Invisalign?

If you have a diastema, Invisalign can help close the space between your teeth. The orthodontic treatment works by using a series of clear, plastic aligners that fit snugly over your teeth. These aligners gradually move to new positions as your teeth shift into their desired position.

Most people need between 18 and 24 aligners to achieve their desired results, but this number can vary depending on the severity of your diastema. You'll also need to visit our office every six weeks or so for checkups so that we can make sure the treatment is progressing as planned.

Invisalign is an excellent choice for correcting a diastema because it's discreet and doesn't cause any pain or discomfort. It's also a more affordable option than metal braces, so you can get the straighter smile you've always wanted without breaking the bank.

How long will I need to wear the Invisalign?

The length of time you'll have to wear Invisalign will vary depending on how severe your diastema is - the worse it is, the longer it will take. For example, you may be able to close a small gap in just 18 weeks with around 22 clear aligners, but if there's more space between your teeth, you might need up to 30 weeks and 24-26 trays for complete correction.

Once our team has determined that your treatment is completed or almost complete, we can provide you with retainers so that your smile stays nice and straight even when you're not wearing them!

If your child has diastema, Invisalign can help close the space between their teeth. The orthodontic treatment works by using a series of clear, plastic aligners that fit snugly over your child's teeth. These aligners gradually move to new positions as their teeth shift into their desired position.
